Hello, 

I am 27. My name is still Emma but I am now 27. Wowzers. I am writing this at 12:02 in my heavily AC’ed bedroom in the dark.

On my last day of 26, I sent a vulnerable text (that I am still awaiting a response from and maybe this is why I chose now to write this), I got a pedicure, I stayed in and also I was quite sad. The latter feels fitting on my last day of 26 as it was a tough little year. I am, however, glad I got through it and even for all of the really hard days, the days I just sort of cried a lot, the days I lay about and didn’t really speak, the days Julia got the most insane calls and cryptic texts from me, there was a lot of joy. 

As I go into 27, I want there to be lots of joy. I still want to embrace the bad days with open arms but hopefully there are more good times on the horizon. But as I transition into my 27th spin around the sun I want to remember some moments that made this year special. 

Some are big, some are little, some are not even very nice but all important x

1. Surprising my Dad by flying back to Ireland to only end up being called “Sadhbh”

2. Getting my Visa to stay with my friends 

3. Becoming better friends with my little work crew - Poogate for life bby x 

4. Having a bathroom that was Brat before Brat was even a thing!

5. Every time I go across a bridge in a taxi to Brooklyn from Manhattan on the way home from a night out 

6. Going on a forgotten date with a guy wearing an Avocado shirt in his hinge picture 

7. Making up with Jolius 

   

8. Doing a solo trip to San Francisco - I wouldn’t recommend it but still proud I did it 

9. Going to the dentist even though I was scared

10. Learning some lessons about men on the internet & men in real life 

11. Watching movies with Chloe, DJ & Julia and eating Ice cream Sundaes 

    

12. Going to a steakhouse in mid town with my two best friends 

    

13. Biking along the boardwalk in LA 

14. Getting a surprise kiss from my crush in a bathroom at a party

15. Continuously cutting my hair shorter and shorter

16. Discovering Toms Diner and it’s Cherry Lime Ricky 

17. Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge with John Clarke

18. This vegetable 

    

19. Spending St Patricks Day at The Scratcher 

    

20. Going on a blind triple date 

    

21. Going to a very random music event and making a whole new squad and going to karaoke (Julia and I at the fore)

More than 26, but just like my ages - who’s counting only me x
